# Termcapsule > A class time capsule for teachers. Pupils write to their future selves at one link with a seat code, no accounts and no names, and you release every letter on the day you choose. Termcapsule is a class time capsule for elementary and middle-school teachers. A teacher signs in with a passkey (WebAuthn; no password) and makes a class with a name, a grade band, a time zone and up to 40 seats. Each seat gets an 8-character code, shown once for printing on slips 8 to a page with a QR code to the class link; the server keeps only SHA-256 digests of codes and of the link's secret. Pupils have no accounts, names or email addresses: they open the class link, type their code, answer up to 6 prompts and write a letter of up to 3000 characters, then seal it. Text with an email address, a web address or a phone number is refused. Before release nobody can read a sealed letter, the teacher included: the teacher sees sealed counts and seat numbers only, and the data export holds counts only. A code the teacher reissues before a pupil seals is shown on that pupil's page. The class seals by button or at 23:59 on its close date; the teacher releases by button or on a date at 07:00 in the class time zone. After release each code opens its own letter and the teacher can read, download and print all of them. Letters are deleted 180 days after release. ## Tool - [A class time capsule without the shoebox](https://termcapsule.com/): What Termcapsule is: the teacher prints a code slip for each seat, pupils write to their future selves at one link, and the teacher releases every letter on the day. ## How it works - [How a class capsule works](https://termcapsule.com/how-it-works/): Seat codes and the class link, writing and sealing, closing and releasing, the 07:00 release on a date, reading and printing, and how long letters are kept. ## Reference - [FAQ](https://termcapsule.com/faq/): Pupil accounts and email, what identifies a pupil, reading before release, lost codes, release day, keeping time, worrying letters, printing and ages. - [About](https://termcapsule.com/about/): What Termcapsule is, what it is not, and who it is for. ## Policies - [Privacy](https://termcapsule.com/privacy/): Exactly what is stored about teachers and pupils, where, who can read it and when, how long it is kept, and how to delete it. - [Terms of use](https://termcapsule.com/terms/): What the site can be relied on for, the teacher's duty to follow school rules on pupil work, acceptable use and support. ## Pricing Free.
